How I Use AI as a Creative Tool in My Writing Journey

Artificial intelligence has become an important tool in my work as an author, blogger, and freelance writer.

I use AI to help with many parts of my creative process, including making pictures and promotional images, developing book covers, reviewing my writing, and organizing ideas.

However, AI does not replace my creativity, experience, or personal voice. I am still the author behind every story and the person making the final decisions.

I view AI as a helpful assistant that allows me to bring my ideas to life more efficiently.

Creating Pictures and Promotional Images

One of the ways I use AI is to create pictures for my blog posts, website pages, social media promotions, and books.

I often begin with a clear idea of what I want the picture to look like. I choose the subject, mood, setting, colors, wording, and overall message.

I may request several versions before finding one that matches my vision.

Sometimes the first image is too busy, the text is incorrect, or the design does not fit my brand. When that happens, I continue making changes until the image feels right.

The finished picture may be created with AI, but the creative direction still comes from me.

Designing My Book Covers

I also use AI as a tool when creating book covers. A cover is an important part of introducing a story to readers, so I take time to decide how each one should look.

I select the title, imagery, characters, atmosphere, font placement, and design style. I also pay close attention to details such as spacing, margins, readability, and where my name appears.

AI helps me explore different visual possibilities, but I guide the process and approve the final design.

Every cover needs to reflect the heart of the book and give readers a glimpse of the world waiting inside.

Helping Me Review and Edit My Writing

AI can also help me review my work for grammar, spelling, sentence flow, repeated wording, and organization. It may point out areas that need clarification or suggest another way to phrase a sentence.

I do not automatically accept every suggestion. I read through the changes and decide whether they sound like me and fit the story I am telling.

Editing is not only about correcting mistakes. It is also about protecting the writer’s voice.

I have been writing for more than 23 years, and maintaining my personal style remains important to me.

Organizing My Ideas and Projects

As a multi-genre author, I work on many different types of projects. I write fantasy, crime fiction, werewolf romance, children’s stories, devotionals, workbooks, inspirational articles, and personal reflections.

AI helps me organize chapter ideas, create outlines, arrange blog sections, brainstorm titles, develop descriptions, and keep track of details.

This can be especially useful when I have several creative projects moving forward at the same time.

The original idea still begins with me. AI simply helps me shape and organize it.

Bringing My Imagination to Life

Before AI tools became widely available, independent authors often needed expensive programs or professional services to create every image, promotional graphic, and cover concept.

AI has made it possible for me to experiment with my ideas and visualize characters, dragons, enchanted kingdoms, peaceful devotional scenes, and many other parts of my imagination.

That freedom has opened new creative possibilities for me. I can describe what I see in my mind and then continue refining the result until it becomes something meaningful.

AI Is a Tool, Not the Author

There is an important difference between using AI as a tool and allowing it to replace the creator.

My experiences, imagination, beliefs, emotions, and writing journey belong to me. I decide what I want to say, what stories I want to tell, and how I want readers to feel.

AI can offer suggestions, generate visual concepts, and help with technical tasks. It cannot live my life, understand my journey in the same way I do, or replace the heart behind my work.

I remain responsible for reviewing, revising, and approving everything connected to my name.

Continuing to Learn and Create

Technology continues to change, and I believe writers can learn how to use new tools without losing their originality. What matters is using those tools thoughtfully, honestly, and responsibly.

For me, AI is one more resource in a much larger creative toolbox. It helps me save time, explore ideas, improve presentation, and continue sharing my work with readers.

The technology may assist with the process, but the imagination, direction, and heart of every project still come from me.

With love and light,
