It has only been a couple of days since I moved my baby chicken, “Peepers”into her new cage which is a dog crate. She has already made herself completely at home and made a huge mess on the bottom of the cage that I clean tomorrow morning. I have literally watched her grow up over the last few weeks. Peepers is discovering new things and that has been one of the highlights of my day.
One of the best additions to her new home is her new roosting branch. I placed it in the corner of her cage and it sits about halfway up the cage.
Peepers absolutely loves it.
She spends so much of her time perched on it during the day. Additionally, every evening she happily settles onto the branch to roost for the night. Seeing her so comfortable there lets me know that she is truly feeling safe in her new chicken coop which I created for her using a medium sized dog crate that my landlord gave me for her.
Today, I picked up a new blend of chicken feed for her that includes a variety of grains, including corn. She seems to enjoy every bite and it is fun to watch her eagerly explore all the different pieces in her food. However, she has made a mess while she was exploring the new food.
I cannot believe how quickly she is growing up. Every morning, I notice something new about her. She seems to get a little bigger, stronger, and more adventurous with each passing day. It is incredible how much can change overnight.
Peepers has brought so much happiness into my life. I look forward to watching her continue to grow, explore, and enjoy her cozy little home—especially her favorite roosting branch. Soon, she will be roaming around the yard with my landlord’s flock of chickens.
I am so eternally grateful to my landlord for giving me, “Peepers” a few weeks ago. She turned out to be incredible gift that I get to raise inside my home. I absolutely love having her as a pet. I am truly blessed to be able to watch her grow up into a beautiful adult chicken.
With love and light,
