Life has a way of leading us exactly where we need to be, even when the path feels uncertain. Recently, I made the decision to move into a nice, inexpensive motel while I continue searching for a new apartment. At first, it felt like a major transition — a mix of emotions, worries, and hopes — but what I’ve discovered here has brought me nothing but gratitude, comfort, and unexpected blessings.
I didn’t come alone. My faithful service dog Tidbit and my sweet bird Willow are right here by my side, reminding me every day that home isn’t always a permanent address — sometimes it’s simply where the love and support live. And in this little motel, I’ve found more support than I ever expected.
A Community That Truly Cares
One of the biggest surprises has been the amazing neighbors I’ve met. They check in on me, look out for me, and treat me with genuine care — something that means the world to me as someone living with disabilities. There’s a sense of community here that I honestly hadn’t felt in a long time. Knowing I’m not alone, knowing someone is always watching out for me, has brought me a deep sense of peace.
Kindness in Every Corner
The staff here is incredible. Every single person greets me with kindness, patience, and respect. They make this place feel safe, stable, and welcoming. And let me tell you — getting free breakfast every morning doesn’t hurt either! It’s one less thing to worry about and one more reminder that I’m in a place where my needs are considered.
From Isolation to Connection
For a long time, isolation weighed heavily on me. But here? I’m not isolated anymore. I’m surrounded by friendly faces, supportive neighbors, and people who genuinely care. Even small interactions — a hello in the hallway, a smile at breakfast, a check-in from staff — have filled my days with warmth.
And the biggest blessing of all?
I’m Not Doing This Alone
My boyfriend is right beside me through every step. Having him here has made this transition not only easier but also meaningful. Together, we’re building a new chapter, one filled with stability, hope, and love.
Grateful for This Season
This motel may be temporary, but the blessings within it are real and lasting. I’m safe. I’m supported. I’m surrounded by kindness. And until I find the right apartment, I’m choosing to embrace this season with gratitude.
Sometimes life redirects us so we can meet the right people, find unexpected strength, and rediscover the beauty of community. And that’s exactly what this place has given me.
Tidbit, Willow, my boyfriend, and I are more than okay — we are blessed, protected, and moving forward with hope.
With love and light,
Crystal Amon
