There’s a certain silence in a blank page. Sometimes it feels heavy, like it’s staring back at you, waiting for the perfect words you don’t quite have yet. Other times it feels like freedom — a wide, open sky that says, anything is possible.
For a long time, I leaned toward the first feeling. A blank page used to scare me. What if I wrote the wrong thing? What if my words didn’t matter? What if nothing came at all?
But somewhere along the way, I learned to see it differently. A blank page isn’t a test. It’s an invitation. It doesn’t ask for perfect sentences. It doesn’t demand brilliance. It just asks for honesty. One line. One thought. One prayer whispered onto paper.
Why the Page Matters
When I journal, the blank page is where grief has found a safe place to land. It’s where my faith has deepened, and where I’ve reminded myself of who I am when the world tries to make me forget.
Every workbook I’ve written, every guided journal I’ve created, started with the courage to face that empty space and trust that the words would come.
The page is powerful because it’s waiting for you. Not someone else’s story, not someone else’s expectations — just yours.
An Invitation for You
Maybe you’re staring at your own blank page right now — in a journal, in a new season of life, in a choice you need to make. I want to remind you: it doesn’t have to be perfect. You don’t need to know the ending before you start.
Just begin. One word at a time.
Because the blank page isn’t empty after all. It’s full of possibility, full of courage, full of you.
