In a world where a simple act of kindness can mean everything, I’m proud to launch a heartfelt initiative that reflects the spirit of our community: The Blankets of Love Mission.
This mission is more than just a project—it’s a movement of compassion, warmth, and hope. As someone who has walked the hard road of a cancer diagnosis and survived the emotional, physical, and spiritual battles that came with it, I understand how much comfort can come from the smallest, softest gestures. Something as simple as a cozy throw blanket can feel like a warm hug during a cold and uncertain time.
What Is the Blankets of Love Mission?
Our goal is clear and simple:
To collect 100 brand-new throw blankets by January 1, 2026.
These blankets will be personally distributed in February 2026 to local hospitals and clinics in Jacksonville, FL. They will go to children and adults who are currently in treatment or recovering from cancer.
Each blanket is more than a gift—it’s a symbol of love, support, and strength. It’s our way of telling every recipient: You are not alone.
Why This Matters
Cancer is not just a physical illness. It impacts your mental health, your spirit, your sense of identity. During my own hospital stays, the smallest tokens of care—a note, a prayer, a blanket—reminded me that I was still human, still held, still worthy of love.
That’s the message I want every blanket to carry. It’s not just warmth against the cold, it’s hope in the midst of pain.
How You Can Help
Whether you’re a member of our Dragon Strong Circle, a local supporter, or someone who simply believes in spreading love—you can be a part of this mission. Here’s how:
Donate a new throw blanket (soft, comforting styles preferred—gender-neutral or uplifting designs are ideal). Host a mini drive in your church, workplace, or school. Sponsor a blanket if you’re unable to shop or ship. Share the mission by reposting the graphic or this blog on social media with the hashtag #BlanketsOfLoveMission.
