My Guinea Pig‘s New Name and More

Her New Cage

Recently, I changed my Guinea pigs name from Oakley to Miss Piggy. She seems to answer to her new name as well. She is really growing up so fast and gaining more weight each week. I have enjoyed the experience of being her new mom.

After watching Tik Tok, I was able to learn new ways to set up her cage. I also found new toys that I can get her. Additionally, I learned the meaning behind the different sounds and noises she was making. She will squeal loud when I open the refrigerator or rattles food bag.

I love learning new ideas through watching the different videos that have been posted. When we bought her from Pet Smart, I originally bought a huge cage that was very hard to assemble. Finally, I took it back to the store and got a refund. I tried using my big dog cage at first, but she was so small and she got out a lot.

Then, I put her in my dog’s small play yard, which was perfect for her at that time. She stayed in the play yard for about 4 weeks or more. At first, I didn’t let her out the cage to roam the house, because of my 3 chihuahuas. Honestly, I was so worried about them hurting her.

However, they stayed near her cage, while she was locked up. They all quickly became friends and I began letting her out the cage for couple hours at a time. I knew she would be okay with the dogs. Now, the boy dogs are basically best buds with her.

A few weeks ago, I first began letting her out of her cage to roam the house full time. At first, the dogs were a little curious, but cautious too. Then, Miss Piggy began following them around the house. She loves to play with my boys Pistol and Dobby whenever she can.

Tidbit, who is my girl, doesn’t like her that much. She ignores her and doesn’t like to be followed by her. Last week, I finally changed her cage and put her back into the big dog cage. She figured out it was hidden in my closet and made herself at home while roaming free.

She liked the dog cage better than the small play yard that I had put her in. I made her a new place to hide out in using a little box and one of my towels. I found a small sized pan and I made a litter box with bedding in it.

I am currently trying to potty train her while she roams the house. She is doing good with it so far, yet she does have small accidents. Luckily, she’s very easy to take care of and she is really easy clean up after as well. I love experiencing new things with her.

She is sweet and friendly but she still doesn’t like to be picked up by anyone. She is still young and learning that we are not going to hurt her. I am hoping she will allow us to hold her more in the future. Honestly, I can’t wait to see how big she will end up growing.

I will post new updates about her from time to time on here. Thank you for reading my blog post and for sharing your comments.
