The cat 4 hurricane known as Helene has begun really affecting the area of Jacksonville, FL that I live in. Currently, I have been dealing with the outer rain bands which have produced high wind gusts. Additionally, there is already been some local reports of flooding and widespread power outages in my general area of town.
Thankfully, I currently have power right now, but my son and his paternal grandmother lost their power at midnight tonight. We have collected some snacks and plenty of bottled water. Right now, the wind is gusting pretty hard and it is whistling as it goes by my house. Once in a while, I will see lightning outside my living room window.
However, so far we are safe from a direct impact by this hurricane. This monster of a storm has been traveling up the west coast of Florida today. Thankfully, this path saved my local area from getting a direct hit.
I will be continuously praying for everyone that is dealing with this dangerous storm as it moves inland. Please stay safe during and after the storm leaves your area. Keep checking in with those you love!
