
This Sloppy Joe Bake is a delicious twist on the classic sandwich, with a flavorful beef filling layered between golden, buttery crescent rolls.
Ingredients:
• 1 pound ground beef
• ½ cup diced onion
• ½ cup diced green bell pepper (optional)
• 2 cloves garlic, minced
• 1 (15-ounce) can Sloppy Joe sauce (or homemade, see below)
• 1 (8-ounce) can crescent roll dough
• 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
• 1 tablespoon butter, melted (for brushing)
• ½ teaspoon salt
• ¼ teaspoon black pepper
Optional Homemade Sloppy Joe Sauce:
• ¾ cup ketchup
• 1 tablespoon brown sugar
• 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
• ½ teaspoon mustard
• ½ teaspoon chili powder
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Sloppy Joe Filling:
• Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
• In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef, onion, and green bell pepper until beef is browned and vegetables are soft. Drain excess grease.
• Stir in minced garlic and cook for another minute.
• Add Sloppy Joe sauce (or homemade mix) and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat.
2. Assemble the Bake:
• Unroll one can of crescent roll dough and press it into the bottom of a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, sealing any seams.
• Spread the Sloppy Joe mixture evenly over the dough.
• Sprinkle shredded cheese over the meat mixture.
• Unroll the second can of crescent roll dough and place it on top, gently stretching to cover the filling. Seal the edges.
3. Bake the Dish:
• Brush the top with melted butter.
• Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the crescent rolls are golden brown.
4. Serve & Enjoy:
• Let cool for 5 minutes before slicing.
• Serve warm with a side of pickles or a simple salad.
