
This rich and hearty dish combines creamy mashed potatoes, tender steak pieces, and melted cheese for the ultimate comfort food!
Ingredients:
• 2 large russet potatoes (for mashed potatoes)
• 1 baked potato (for topping)
• ½ cup milk or heavy cream
• 2 tablespoons butter
• ½ teaspoon salt
• ¼ teaspoon black pepper
• ½ pound steak (ribeye, sirloin, or your choice), cut into bite-sized pieces
• 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter (for cooking steak)
• ½ teaspoon garlic powder
• ½ teaspoon onion powder
• 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, Monterey Jack, or a blend)
• 2 green onions, chopped (optional garnish)
• ¼ cup crispy bacon bits (optional but recommended)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Mashed Potatoes:
• Peel and cube the 2 russet potatoes, then boil them in salted water until fork-tender (about 15 minutes).
• Drain and mash with butter, milk, salt, and pepper until smooth. Set aside.
2. Cook the Steak Pieces:
• Heat olive oil or butter in a skillet over medium-high heat.
• Season steak pieces with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
• Sear the steak pieces for about 2-3 minutes per side until browned and cooked to your preferred doneness. Set aside.
3. Assemble the Dish:
• Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
• Spread the mashed potatoes evenly in a greased baking dish.
• Dice the baked potato and scatter the pieces over the mashed potatoes.
• Distribute the cooked steak pieces on top.
• Sprinkle with shredded cheese.
4. Bake:
• Place the dish in the oven and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
5. Garnish & Serve:
• Remove from the oven and sprinkle with chopped green onions and crispy bacon bits (if using).
• Serve hot and enjoy!
