Green-cheeked conures usually begin trying to talk between the ages of 6 months and 1 year, though some may start a bit earlier or later depending on individual personality, training, and environment.
While they aren’t as chatty as some other parrot species, green-cheeked conures can learn a few words or short phrases with consistent training and encouragement.
To encourage talking, try:
• Repetition: Repeating words in a calm, friendly tone helps them associate sounds with actions or objects.
• Positive Reinforcement: Reward them with treats or attention when they make vocalizations or attempt words.
• Interaction: Engaging with them daily and making talking part of their routine helps reinforce their learning.
Green-cheeked conures may not have a wide vocabulary, but their playful, affectionate personalities make them charming and expressive in many other ways too!
