What is Peer Groups?

Peer groups are social groups consisting of individuals who are usually of similar age, background, and social status. These groups provide members with the opportunity to share experiences, form relationships, and develop a sense of belonging. Peer groups are particularly important during adolescence, as they influence behaviors, attitudes, social development, and identity formation. However, peer groups can be found in all stages of life, including among colleagues in a workplace or in community organizations.

Peer influence within these groups can affect decisions related to education, hobbies, social activities, and even personal beliefs.
