Help An Elderly Neighbor

Consider helping out an elderly neighbor in your own community before donating to different organizations. Finding the right person in your community to help is not hard, once you take a moment to learn more about your own neighbors. Many times an elderly person is living by themselves which can be extremely hard on them at times.

Maybe you could visit them on your day off and offer to wash their beloved pet. Consider bringing a bag of pet food on your next visit. Sometimes they may even need help or assistance with getting to the store or to the doctor’s office. They may also require help with pet sitting, if they are having medical issues and they require a hospital stay.

Additionally, they may also need help cleaning their house occasionally. They may also need help with completing daily chores like dishes and laundry. The neighbor may not be physically able to get out the house, so you could consider going to the grocery store for them. A simple act of kindness can bring a smile to their face and yours.

If you have time, sit there and just listen to them talk about their life. You will find an immediate need that they have, if you just listen closely to what they are saying. They are very thankful and grateful just to have someone there to listen to them especially when they are alone most of the time. Therefore, consider helping an elderly neighbor instead of helping a big organization.
